Kids’ Reserve was first established on 13 April 1993. 

Meet our amazing team of kaiako and kaimahi, pictured above.

We are proud of our small group sizes and great ratios. 1:3 for our under 2s, 1:4 for our 2-3.5 year olds, and 1:8 for our 3.5-5 year olds.

• Korimako: 9/10 tamariki with 3 kaiako
• Bellbirds: 9/10 tamariki with 3 kaiako
• Penguins: 12/13 tamariki with 3 kaiako
• Tūī: 16 tamariki with 2 kaiako

The Kids’ Reserve community is open to all children and families. We are located beneath Ahumairangi maunga in Thorndon. Our opening hours are 7.45am to 5.15pm, Monday to Friday.

The centre is open throughout the year excluding statutory holidays, one teacher-only day per year, and for a two-week period over Christmas/New Year. Children attend a minimum of three full days per week.

We are fully catered and provide nutritious hot cooked meals to our tamariki in line with Healthy Heart recommendations.

A Governance Committee is elected each year at the Annual General Meeting and provides support and governance to the centre and its staff. Pictured below are our current committee members.
