The Kids’ Reserve community is open to all children and families. Opening hours are 7.45am to 5.40pm, Monday to Friday. We will be changing our hours this year, the under 2 rooms (Bellbird/Korimako) will be open 7.45am to 5.15pm from July 2021 and the over 2 (Penguin/Tui) rooms will be the same (5.15pm) in January 2022. The centre is open throughout the year excluding statutory holidays, one teacher-only day per year, and for a two-week period over Christmas/New Year. Children attend a minimum of three full days per week.
Masayo, our Cook, provides nutritious food throughout the day for all children. See more on our healthy menu here. Kids’ Reserve has a Healthy Heart Award (HEHA.) This emphasis the impact of early childhood nutrition and physical activity on children’s current health and development. The centre has to consistently provide healthy nutritional food as well as implement regular physical activities. Policy development supports the implementation of the award.
The centre employs, where possible, trained and registered teachers, and a centre cook as we have a strong focus on quality in group care. A Child Protection Policy is available and is updated yearly so that the community can feel our tamariki are our most important assets!
A Management Committee is elected each year at an Annual General Meeting, and provides support and governance to the centre and its staff.
